When I got diagnosed T2 diabetic two years ago they put me on Ozempic. It was around the time it got approved for weight loss and was really hard to get. I had three “pens” of it in total, didn’t do anything for my weight or reduce my appetite, but I’d get insane heart palpitations especially at night. Really scary experience. I stopped taking it after the third lot.

I actually had a million to one reaction to Ozempic. The food aversion side effect was grossly exaggerated. I couldn't eat more than half a slider a day. Dropped 30 lbs in about 2 months. Body went into starvation mode, metabolism shut down. Medicine I was taking built up in my blood, double the max safe level. Spent 2 weeks in the hospital, 3 days of it in ICU. They took me off Ozempic. Weight is holding at 150.

Ozempic.  Not taking for weight loss or diabetes.  NASH.  Familial.  I’ve lost 20lbs.  Liver enzymes improved with concordant statin that controlled my triglycerides and ldl.  Early side effects improved.  Definitely had some early n/v and constipation.  That said, was also having some cholecystitis during that time.  Had my gallbladder out a few months ago.  Now I dream of the constipation when I eat any fatty foods.

Tirzepatide. 43 male. Starting weight 255 March 29th 2025. Current weight 196 today. I always struggle with food. I am a snacker. Ill eat dinner and then sweets and then a bag of chips. I sometimes forget to eat now. I had knee surgery in december and gained 20 lbs from sitting on my ass. My only side effect is upset stomach for 1 day after my shot.

51 Have been on compound semaglutide from Hims for 1 year. Did really well for about 9 months and lost 30 lbs. Then I plateaued and I've been stuck. Thankfully nothing gained other than a lb or two fluctuation up and down. No I'll effects and the amount I eat before getting full is definitely less. No GI issues or other problems. I just wish I could break through this barrier. I'd really like to drop another 10.

I’ve never been publicly seen as overweight, but after Covid, I gained more weight. I lost weight twice after that but regained it so quickly. I tried one of the GLPs and was hooked by week 2. Forget about the weight loss part, it also curbed my urge to drink after work on weekdays, which made waking up early a breeze. Which changed my life in that aspect alone.

60/ male. I was on Ozempic for 13 months and lost 85 lbs down from 337. I have been off for 2 years and only gained back 14 lbs but I have had 2 hip replacements in that time and had periods of limited mobility. If you hear horror stories about people getting sick it is because they didn't change their eating habits. Be sure to drink plenty of water to combat any constipation that results from your significantly slower digestion rate.

It took me too long to figure out what was happening. Ozempic and Zepbound dehydrated me. Everything was puckered up. I’d go to long being constipated until I was completely full and the food spoiling in my intestines would back up into my stomach. Then I’d get burps that smelled like sulfer, I’d force a turd and then I’d be sick for two days with vomit and diarrhea. I lost 11lbs in two days the first time it happened. I’m on saxenda now. It’s a daily injection so I can skip a dose and lose 6lbs of 💩 any time I feel like I need it. As long as I keep track of my movements and do something about it when it’s been too long, I don’t feel bad at all. The doctor gave me some liquid laxative and that helps regulate everything. I went from 310 to 280 on...

It's honestly like a shot of will power. Not just for food but I felt more focused and energised. Brain fog was gone and lifestyle became better. Dropped 12kgs. Felt great. The only problem is once I stopped. The noises slowly came back and even though I'd developed some healthy habits like going to bed earlier, not snacking, daily walks. As soon as I stopped that will power kinda disappeared. Picked up half of it again since then

I paid $1188 for a years supply, but every time my dose goes up they send more—so I have enough for about 5 extra months. It has been a great experience. I lost 40 pounds. I honestly haven’t told anyone I’m doing it. On Fridays when I go to get my shot, I turn off my location if they were looking at their find my friends they wouldn’t see where I am. Not necessarily ashamed, I just don’t want the judgement. I look at it as if they see me eating something unhealthy it immediately becomes a questionable situation, “are you allowed to eat that? Does your doctor know? What’s the point of you getting the shot if you’re going to eat that?” When really I am forcing myself to eat and when I do the portions are smaller.

Your friend is an asshole. Would someone demean a person fighting cancer with meds and call it a “short cut”?? I begged my doctor for 3 years to look at my labs, which “look normal” to her, but I was gaining 10 lbs a year when I normally never gain and hover around the same healthy weight until a few years ago. I finally had a different doc look at my last labs and he said I was showing that I was approaching insulin resistance. If I started meds soon, we can correct this and then come off the meds. Untreated this turns into T2D. After one week on this my brain fog went away and I feel like my normal self, AND have dropped the extra weight. This med is not a shortcut, but necessary for a lot of people to correct imbalances in your body. Dump your “friend”.

This topic comes up a lot here. Taking Wegovy — or anything you do, really — is only someone’s business if you make it their business. Loved ones, family, friends…no one needs to know what you do unless there is some pressing need for them to know what meds you’re on; and even then be careful who you tell. I’m sorry your (now former) friend is so judgmental but, really, what’s it to her? And what’s it to anyone what you do for your body? This is between you and your doctor. I do hope you have more supportive people in your life for this and other reasons. Good luck with your journey.

Medication use is very private, and it is not information people should necessarily expect to have even from their closest friends. Man, be really careful with nausea, especially when increasing the dose. Digestion slows down massively, so instead of smashing 3 huge meals, you'll have to eat 5-6 small ones. Also, the drug can suppress your thirst, so literally set alarms to remind yourself to drink water so your workout performance doesn't tank.

Bro, the 2-3 kg/month goal is a very logical approach, but don't say I didn't warn you; sometimes your appetite shuts down so much that you can't even surpass 1000 calories a day even if you try. Say goodbye to the muscle and strength you forced yourself to build over 4 years if that happens. Do not neglect protein just because you feel nauseous. If solid food is too hard, you'll need to lean heavily on liquid calories (whey protein, milk, oat blends).

As someone who has walked a similar path, I suggest you prepare for this: Eating will cease to be a pleasure or a reward mechanism for you; it will turn into a mandatory chore, like putting gas in a car. If you relieve your PhD stress by eating (even unconsciously), you urgently need to find a new way to relieve stress when the drug takes that away from you.

So what you're listing as diet is partially just to have success as opposed to skipping the awful gastric issues. Things I have found to avoid gastric issues: \* fatty foods \* sugary foods \* eating too much in one sitting \* very spicy food (this one is BRUTAL - with delayed gastric emptying I've never had stomach discomfort like that in my life) In terms of your regular diet to experience success, yes you want high protein, low carb. That will help to retain muscle mass (along with weight work of course) and will also feed your body a diet that makes it easy for it to burn the calories.

Stay hydrated! Drink lots of water, and maybe an electrolyte drink too - helps a lot of with nausea. You may also need to remind/force yourself to eat something early in the day. You’ll figure out your own reaction over time. Just be a bit more prepared/deliberate for the first few weeks (maybe months). Know that side effects sometimes come and go or depend on your specific dose. For some people, injection site also makes a difference (I’ve only done my abdomen, so I’m not sure whether it does for me. Early on, it may help to take fiber supplements, and stool softener can be very helpful if you initially have constipation. If you do experience it, don’t wait a day or two - take fiber and/or softener the first day you’re constipated. Fortunately for me, the things that give me the worst side effects are also the things that...

Here’s my tips (and then there’s more details about me if you feel like reading:) 1. Digestive enzymes before a meal if I know I’ll be eating something a little harder to digest. 2. Fresh ginger tea. I bought a bunch of ginger from Costco and threw it in the freezer. I grate a chunk of it into a cup and pour boiling water over it and then sip on it after it has a chance to steep. This helped my heartburn/fullness so much! And the ginger is so easy to grate when it’s frozen! 3. Little meals with protein more often. 4. Avoiding heavy fat and sugar or I’ll be full for waaaaaay too long and it sucks! 5. I eat my last meal of the day a few hours before I go to bed, or I’ll often get heartburn if I lay down. As others have suggested, take your first dose when you have some time at home and can deal with any side effects. I am one of the unfortunate who did indeed need a barf bag and toilet as it caused vomiting and horrific bowel spasms. I was able to get prescriptions to help (though not eliminate) both of those issues, so if you do have bad side effects, don't suffer in silence, and call your doctor for help. Also, constipation was a much bigger issue for me, so be aware of that possibility too.

For myself, it turned off food noise. I was no longer doing a mental inventory of what I had to eat in my house or what I would eat next or what I wish I had to eat. For some friends, it did this for alcohol too (I’m not a drinker) so there’s definitely something that effects cravings. I feel like people who say things like just eat less and exercise more will never understand, but it gives me some insight that for other people food isn’t something they constantly think about. I do not think there should be a stigma surrounding any medication use, people who have a problem with what others do with their own bodies that has no effect on them amaze me.

While there are negative physical effects, for me, the psychological effects have been positive. It seems to have curbed all of my addictions, not just food. I literally went to the shopping mall the other day and thought "well this is a waste of time. This is all crap made by child slaves" and went home. Then there's the psychological benefits of simply feeling good about yourself. With the food noise gone, you make better choices. You can plan out healthy meals instead of devouring junk food. As soon as you start to eat well, you just feel better. Your body feels better, your mind feels better. Then, you lose a bit of weight, so you feel even better...

The weight-loss itself took my brain to a more positive state, as well. I'd been trying and failing for so long,, doing what had previously been successful, and finally having some success gave me more hope for my future. I could see a different future for myself. The GLP1S gave me the confidence that this would continue. Some people I trust know I'm on it, but I don't broadcast using it widely, so don't get unhelpful comments about it. I had to reframe my thoughts around paying for it. I'm saving a lot of money on food and alcohol, which offsets the cost of medication.

For me, the biggest psychological change on semaglutide was how much quieter food became in my mind. The constant thinking, planning, craving, and negotiating around food eased a lot, which was both relieving and strange at first. I felt more neutral around eating less emotional pull, less urgency. That said, I also felt different in my body because of the side effects. The fatigue especially affected my mood and mental clarity, which made day-to-day life harder for me personally. As for stigma, I definitely noticed it people often assume it’s a “shortcut,” even though it’s really a tool that affects both your brain and body in complex ways.

The people you are talking to are ignorant and jealous. They want to see you suffer and struggle for your health/ otherwise it’s not virtuous. The medical community and the community of users here can tell you that this drug is lifesaving and most of us don’t have side effects. I’m on month 3 mounjaro- almost zero side effects, down 17 lbs.

Hi OP! 5’0 girlie here as well When I started I was at 230lbs and now I’m at 156lbs (after 1 year and a half), zero loose skin because I dedicated myself to weightlifting since day 1 on this pen (+cardio twice a week). Never been happier with my body, I guarantee you. Whoever has something nasty to say about this medication, is just jealous they cannot use it. Don’t listen to anybody but yourself and your doctor. Do what is best for you and not for others. Ozempic head is not a real thing. You will find your confidence again. Trust the process. It’s not such an easy road as they make it seem, but it’s completely worth it. Good luck! Shoot me a message anytime if you have trouble.

Loose skin will happen even with exercise if you are morbidly obese. I take Ozempic for T2D. I’ve lost around to 80 pounds in a little over a year. I have had zero negative side effects. I have loose skin but I will take it over being miserable and morbidly obese. Who cares if someone thinks it’s the easy way. Do it for you!!! I started Ozempic about 5 months ago, and I have lost 40 pounds, I feel great, and I tell everyone who asks about my weight loss that ozempic is a miracle. It's not the "worst thing ever" it's actually the best thing ever. I have no lose skin at this point, I do about 30 minutes on the treadmill 5x a week, go hiking on the weekends with my family, drink tons of water, and eat as much protein as I can stand-also, I feel like I am in control, no longer thinking about food all the time, no longer feeling guilty and ashamed for overeating, and feeling good in my body again. Add years to your life & feel good physically & mentally get on the Oz. Not all people have diarrhea with it. I was resisting Oz because I had a bad experience one time. It’s because they upped my dose too quickly. Go slower with the dosage & let your body get used to it until you increase it. I stayed on 0.25 mg for 6 weeks instead of 2 weeks then I spent 4 weeks at 0.5mg. Had no side effects at all. I’m up to 1mg now & lost 65 lbs so far & off all insulin & oral meds for diabetes & my A1C is 4.5 so give yourself a chance.

The stigma surrounding it drives me insane. It’s not the “easy way out.” It’s merely a medication. I don’t know if people crapping on it are jealous, anti western medicine, or what. You know what does and doesn’t work for you in terms of weight loss. If you think you need it, talk to a doctor about it and ask lots of questions. Every medication will have pros and cons. It’s up to you to decide if the journey is worth the end result. I have so many biological issues working against my weight loss efforts. Ozempic has me down 25 pounds! I wouldn’t have gotten this far without it. Intense cravings, endless hunger thanks to PCOS, and depression would’ve made me quit at the 10 pound mark if I was on my own.

With Oz I suffered a lot with pain, gastro issues (stopped up or the runs- no in between), severe nausea and became pretty depressed. With Mounjaro I have gas but nothing a gas X won't fix. Yes there’s a possibility of loose skin but it’s my personal opinion that the benefits of losing weight are FAR more important. Some of these benefits include decreased risk of stroke or heart attack, increased cardiovascular health, and just generally feeling better in your body!! I know I feel better in my body already. It's not the easy way. It makes losing weight as easy for someone who struggles with obesity as anyone who has never experienced food noise, hormonal imbalances, medical weight gain etc. It feels easy because for us, the calorie deficit and exercise were not enough. It had to be more exercise, stricter diet and ongoing battle with food noise to lose each pound. I keep thinking of it as this is what normal feels like.

There are days where I get what I call ozempic sick, which means sulfer problems, or just feel like I can't eat anything. But honestly, the food noise has stopped. I don't have the desire to eat sugar or's fatty foods. The biggest thing it changed, though, was my depression and anxiety. It was like night and day for me. It was about 24 hours after the first shot. I noticed that my brain felt 'normal'. Most commonly people experience some sort of GI issue: nausea, constipation, diarrhea. For me personally, these have been the only side effects I have had. I would ignore those people, OP. You just need to do what is best for your health. For a lot of people, Ozempic has had great results. It can even be life-changing. Like any other medication, it can produce side effects in some people. For example, here is a [post](https://www.planetdrugsdirect.com/articles/does-ozempic-cause-heartburn-facts) at Planet Drugs Direct that explains how Ozempic can occasionally cause heartburn. That side effect only affects 2% of people who take it, and it is usually only a short-term side effect. Talk to your doctor about Ozempic. I’m sure they’ll be willing to discuss your concerns in detail, and let you know what to expect.

You look and feel amazing when you lose so much after struggling for so long but I think what people don’t tell you is how whe you come off it it makes it 10 times harder to lose naturally. Even with hard work and consistency. I have tried twice and typically things that would shift my weight ( cardio & low carb / dairy free diets ) now don’t work at all . So bear that in mind . Literally a new d2 who never had an issue? This is a handy tool. Not a lifesaver. As a d2 who has been d2 since a pregnancy 20 years ago, I require insulin. Along with the nausea came a lot of sulfur-y burps - almost like you've eaten way too many fried eggs. All of this eventually passed after what seemed like way too many months. I want to say it was 4-6 months of these intermittent issues. Not a bad side, but it was a struggle getting used to eating smaller portions of food throughout the day and drinking tons of water. I have caught myself going all day and forgot to eat. Which is bad because i work out allot. 3-4 hours,3-4 days a week. I eat targeted macro meals now.. mostly high protein. Sweets don't tempt me like they did so that's good.. also should avoid greasy foods to prevent gall bladder issues. I also take 3 tbs of met fiber every night to stay regular. I've lost 60lbs in 4 months and i feel great. That's almost the weight of a washing machine that i was lugging around with me everyday. So that alone adds motivation to keep going. I feel my stomach feeling loose.. im applying lotion to it and in a few months when i hopefully lose more.....

Fortunately, you are young so I think you have a greater chance of your skin bouncing back. You know what you look like now, would some flabby skin look worse? The real problems in not dealing with your weight will get worse as you age. Doing toning exercises will help SOME of the sagging by building muscle, but it's simple geography: it takes more skin to cover 265 pounds than 170. Insurance will SOMETIMES cover something like a tummy tuck, if the excess skin causes health issues like rashes - it won't cover it just for cosmetic reasons. The weight loss will do so much to improve your health in other ways, a bit of spare floppy skin is an annoyance, nothing else. The people who are naysaying it don't know anything about it. SW 230, now almost at goal at 152. All my meds are way down and my labs are completely normal. Wished they’d had this when I was young before all the extra weight and an active job damaged my poor skeleton. Effects, and side effects, really vary from person. If nausea is a side effect, I will have it so I was prepared going in. It’s super manageable now ( and there is some evidence people that have the nausea tend to be more responsive to the wt. loss side effect! ). It can help cure addictions like booze, shopping and others. Can help with ADD and PCOS. There are also a surprising number of ‘infertile’ women that...

It probably would leave you with extra skin but at the same time you would be so much more healthy and feel so much better in general it would definitely be worth it. No one ever tells a stroke or heart attack candidate that they're taking "the easy way out" when they take blood thinners, beta blockers, and the like. No one ever tells people with cancer that they're cheating by using chemo/radiation. It's only because fat shaming is so accepted in this country that haters feel safe and even that their statements are valid. They ignore medical issues. Genetic issues. The absolutely horrific lack of food additive standards in this country - all of which lead to the need for help. You're young. Take the medication. Lose slowly so that you don't have the loose skin issues. Make yourself into the healthy goddess you know yourself to be. And screw the haters.

When you first take it you will probably have all cravings removed within 30 minutes. You will feel your stomach tighten, not in a painful way, but in a way that feels full. Eating greasy foods may make you nauseous or uncomfortable the first few months and drinking alcohol gives a similar effect. Other than that, there aren’t any bad side effects, especially if you skip weeks. I chose to skip because I got used to eating less, and had only minor cravings around my cycle. HOWEVER, if you are prescribed Ozempic for reasons other than weight loss do NOT skip weeks. I’m 5’9 and my starting weight was 240. I am now 179. It’s been about a year and a half. Loose skin is minimal, because I lost the last 40 by skipping. The first 21 lbs fell off within 4 weeks. I’ve also been heavy for 90% of...

I'm on zepbound and lost 50 lbs over the last year and a half. Here's my takeaways -it will absolutely cut out your hunger and help with portion control -incorporating exercise into your daily routine will expedite results. - you will have more energy having not loaded yourself down with over eating - it absolutely will NOT fix your relationship with food. If you're a nervous eater, a bored eater, an emotional eater or eat beyond when you feel full, those are all issues you need to address yourself. Glp-1 drugs can help with these things but they aren't a 100% fix

Done wegovy for about a year now. I started it after a shoulder surgery when I ballooned up to 350 from 290. Currently down around 270. As most have said the biggest things it has helped me with: * Cuts out a.lot of the snacking * Curbed most of the greasy meals as that high fat content would routinely give me terrible stomach cramps for days * Cut out almost all sweets as they would lead to awful burping for days. * Increased my daily fiber intake so I didn't get supremely constipated. * Overall cut out almost all my cravings for booze and food. I was exceptionally active prior to the shoulder injury. Losing that first 10-20 lbs really helped me feel good enough to start moving again.

Now when it’s time to go to dinner, I just really don’t care where we go because I can only have a few things and very little of it. I’m looking at food for nutrition now and not for fun…and I realize that’s how it is SUPPOSED to be, but I miss eating. I do not miss how I felt when my blood sugar was out of whack. Then I went to the doctor for the first time in years (like 20 years) and was diagnosed with hypertension and diabetes. At my follow up visit they brought up Ozempic, and I started it the following week. So here’s some things for you to consider. Side effects and negative experiences just the same as crazy positive experiences tend to be very overblown and get a lot of media coverage online (which is where most people in our weird society get their news information). What’s going to make a better story - some guy who experienced horrific side effects from a medication or the guy who lost 1-2lbs per week, slowly normalized his health and went on with his life? Obviously the media is looking for something sensational. The same thing goes with people who say “I LOST 700LBS IN 5MINS ON OZEMPIC OMFG”. People are also, unfortunately, people. And the responses of people saying it’s “the easy way” is based in either jealousy. Maybe they’re afraid of the medication but secretly want to take it. Maybe they want it but can’t afford it. Maybe they’re naturally slender...

The benefits to keeping my type 2 diabetes under control, reducing the stress on my arthritic knees, enjoying getting out and doing stuff, are well worth sticking with ozempic. Here's one article I read from UCSF: [https://magazine.ucsf.edu/weight-loss-drugs-too-good-to-be-true](https://magazine.ucsf.edu/weight-loss-drugs-too-good-to-be-true) I also don't think ozempic by itself solves my weight management problems long term. Been on Ozempic for 4 years for pre-diabetes and then actual diabetes. It gives me insane nausea if I ever miss a dose, but it works decently well. It's an appetite suppressant, so you'll feel sick if you eat your normal amount of food most likely. Aside from the nausea though it's been fine. I was probably gonna end up diabetic regardless because I have a lot of genetic markers(though I could definitely eat better), but it's been great at keeping my a1c at a healthy level even if I haven't lost much weight. All I can say is make sure your doctor is willing to give you some nausea meds for the first few weeks you take it. Better safe than sorry because if you get it as bad as I did you will be throwing up the next day.

I bounced between Wegovy and Zepbound a couple times due to supply constraints. It takes away the food noise and makes you not just incapable of binging, but really not a fan of it in the first place. Now I'm at a state where I need to start focusing on weight training instead of just fat loss and it's sooooo much easier to maintain weight than it is to constantly worry about trying to lose it. Another great part: I lost 12 inches off my waist. Assuming I was a perfect circle that means I lost approximately 2 inches of ass and gained 2 inches of dick.
