Oxycodone (OxyContin)

FDA Approved

Oxycodone is a powerful opioid pain medication used to treat moderate to severe pain. It works by binding to specific receptors in the brain and spinal cord, reducing the perception of pain and the emotional response to it. Pain relief is pain relief. As long as you're using your medication as prescribed, there's not a thing wrong with enjoying the physical relief it can bring. These meds can make you loopy, but I personally call it a trade-off for being in severe pain. Pain can make you just as loopy.

This week I had surgery to fix a missed second degree tear from the birth of my first kid in 2018. The surgeon stitched back two muscles in my pelvic floor and stitched up a hole/weakness in the faschia between the vagina and rectum. I don't know where I'm going with this. I get to take Oxycodone the first weeks now and it helps with the pain but makes me sleepy, but I'm still so mad at the aftercare for women. I had to seek appointments several times and wait so long for this. I had my first gynecologist tell me that everything looked normal and nice but I felt I had no support in my pelvic floor and of course not, 2 muscles were broken?! Please, if you go through a birth and something seems wrong afterwards, trust your instincts, don't give up, keep fighting for care you are...

4 days for me but I didn't think of using stool softeners. Honestly didn't know the painkillers would stop the bowels. I wish I did cuz that first trip to the bathroom was the most pain I felt during this whole ordeal.

I didn’t go for a whole week and tried everything over that time — Miralax a couple times, laxatives, prune juice + butter, lots of water… nothing worked, ended up having to use an enema at home — it worked instantly, but was still painful to pass the stools. Definitely wish I had gotten on a stool softener day 1 with using Oxy — lesson learned! Good luck with your bowel movement!! 🤞🏻😅

Don't avoid opiods I have dealt with a slew of addicts in my life, both parents, grandparents, most aunts and uncles all addicts. So my whole existence, im 48 now, i have denied opioids and any addictive substances except for alcohol once or twice a year at, you guessed it, family parties. I have helped more than one person kick an addiction, and ive seen the worst of it. Well the pain in my lower body is so bad i gave in and today is the first day in over 2 years where I'm 100% pain free and can move around my house almost like i used to before the ms. Ive been prescribed oxycodone 5mg 3x a day and it has changed my life from being the sad lump in the backroom, to feeling complete and human again. I had such a fear of opiods that i think i...

Long time user of oxy. This med is used by me to help prevent the bad pain. If I lapse and the pain is there, I have to take more to knock it out and it then becomes tolerable.

Amneal had been the brand of 15mg OxyIR they carried for quite some time and then two months ago my prescription was Mallinkrodt which is the brand that gives me major headaches. I brought that up to the pharmacists a couple weeks later wheb picking up a different script and he said if he can order a different brand for my next prescription he would. He was able to get a different brand for that prescription which was last months and they were Rhodes and I knew from taking that brand in the past they were virtually sugar pills they were so ineffective. So while I was checking out I again talked to the pharmacists and told him how Rhodes did absolutely nothing for my pain and again he said if he could get a different brand for my next script and that he has had trouble getting Amneal from...

For me, the pain relief is what ultimately helps me feel relaxation from the opiates (oxy/hydro). I feel like my body isn’t clenched up and in pain so I can relax and that gives me a bit of a spacey feel. I take a very small dose. 5mg, 7.5mg at most. And it’s like “ahhhh, I can go do chores now!” This happens when I’m not in pain naturally too. Which is very rarely. I am glad that you have a doctor who is able to prescribe for you. This is my issue currently. PCP says she is no longer prescribing to anyone…. so now, I am SOL. 🥲
